We have not had it long, so we'll see how it goes. Very happy though, so far. What is not to like. Radio is OK and controls are intuitive and easy to set. Two levels of light intensity. Huge readout at 2". Viewable from any angle and from across a 20' room and without glasses. At 15 bucks at Bed, Bath and Beyond, its disposable if it breaks.
Plenty bright, but has 2 brightness levels. Really BIG numbers. Radio leaves a little to be desired, but as an alarm clock, or a clock for those with poor vision, I think this is a good value.
Never again a Coby in my life unless its free or something. Turned off/on multiple times, still same result. But exactly after 7 weeks of purchase, the clock failed to work. Yeah right Coby. No more turning on the light in the middle of the night to look at the time.
So much for manufacturing junk products. It displayed junk characters in the display area. The big bright display didn't bother me at all. I was so excited once I set this up at home. The alarm buzzer is too loud though.
When I looked at getting a replacement thru' coby, I learnt I had to ship it at my cost and also include a money order for return postage.
I would recommend this clock. The battery back-up works great on my clock, I have unplugged and moved it serval times without a single reset. I have had this clock for about a month now and I love it. The numbers are large and bright, perfect for checking the time across the room at 3 am. The controls are pretty easy to navigate; the radio has great reception with the external antenna, the tuning is not real precise but at this price point what can you expect.
But even with the backup battery installed it doesn't actually save the time for even a 48-second outage. It keeps time and is easy to read from across the room. Huh.I would have paid double to not have to reach up and reset the thing after every power outage, which are pretty common out here. I bought this clock for the exercise room for the big bright numerals. And it's great for that. the time from the power going out to my backup generator kicking in.
